We had yet another baby buffalo born on the reserve here this week. He or she is only 4 days old and we don’t have a name for him or her yet. Suggestions are welcome! That brings our total to 8 buffalo. On the farm are buffalo, bushbuck, springbok, eland, bontebok, ostrich, giant tortoise, ducks, guinea fowl, Egyptian geese and rabbits! The bush buck are starting to be adventurous and we are seeing them down and around Rioja more often. Very cute! ORGANIC GARDEN Our organic garden is still producing some of the finest produce known to Man. It is such a pleasure to be able to pick to order for you. Over30Clubbing This Saturday, the 13th of February 2010, DJ Beau will be taking over the decks from Gotz for this special Valentines evening Over30Clubbing sensation. The Comics - Shimmy Isaacs - New comedy award winner 2009 (she received an encore at Rocking the Daises when I hosted the comedy tent! Awesome!) Gino Fernandez – Founder of The Starving Comics and host of the legendary Zula Bar comedy nights on Long street. (a master at improvisation and handling the audience, always something amazing off the cuff from Gino) Kurt Langeveld – Top new Cape Flats comedian, he makes me laugh every time (not easy!) Zinzi Mangweni - The winner of the 2008 new talent search at the Cape Town International Comedy Festival. (this guy talks about race and culture and uses intelligent comedy to get you thinking) The Musicians – I met Stephen and Jean America in Ocean View a while back and was lucky enough to sit in on a recent rehearsal session. These guys will be huge. Guaranteed. They have great songs and sweet harmonies reminiscent of the hit band Black Sunshine. An honor to have them on the bill. Every Thursday – From then on every Thursday will be a stand up meets talk show format. One top comedian not only entertains but is interviewed by myself and get’s to participate in “Whose line is it anyway?” type games and quizzes. This is my chance to present to the people of the Deep South an in depth look at South Africa’s top talents. Guests will include Stuart Taylor, Kurt Schoonraad and David Levinsohn. During these shows people will have the chance to eat in one of Cape Town’s top restaurants and then be ushered into a specifically designed theatre space. We are going all out on production values using Beau Compton of Sound Affinity. The sound and lights will be the best available, giving a great party atmosphere.
